2007 AWARD RECIPIENTS |
Each year the Idaho Recreation and Park Association provides several awards to individuals, agencies and
students who contribute to the field of parks and recreation. The awards were presented at the Idaho
Recreation and Park Association’s annual awards ceremony on Tuesday, September 11 in Twin Falls.
Dr. Leon Green Fellowship Award
James Hall, Boise Parks & Recreation
The organization’s highest award, the Dr. Leon Green Fellowship Award, was presented to James (Jim) R. Hall,
Director, City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department for his many years of excellent and tireless work to
advance the goals of parks and recreation services for the health and well-being of all citizens.
Outstanding Individual Achievement Award
Cindy Sorensen, Idaho Power Company
A long-time employee of Idaho Power Company in Boise, was presented with the Outstanding Individual Achievement
award for consistently “going beyond the call of duty” to make sure visitors to the Snake River area have an
enjoyable and quality recreational experience.
Outstanding Organizations
Idaho Power Company and Twin Falls Parks and Recreation
Idaho Power Company and Twin Falls Parks and Recreation were honored for their partnership in the major rehabilitation
project at Shoshone Falls Park in Twin Falls. Many positive enhancements have been made to the park. New and improved ADA access,
a new parking lot and landscaping, a ¼ mile of new roadway, rebuilding the existing overlook and stairway, adding a 1¼ mile walking
path along the canyon rim, safety fencing along all canyon rim trails are just some of the renovations that will
provide visitors improved and safer access to the site as well as accommodate the ever-increasing use of this beautiful national
attraction and keep it accessible to future generations of visitors.
Outstanding Organization (non-member)
Lake City Development Corporation, Coeur d'Alene
This award is to recognize the Lake City Development Corporation in Coeur d’Alene and what they have done to enhance
and promote parks and open space in the community. The Lake City Development Corporation (LCDC) is an organization that
assists with improvements within pre-determined districts using funds generated as a result of commercial or residential
